I am a fully qualified person-centred therapist based in the UK, offering a warm, empathic, non-judgmental approach to help you safely explore and heal whatever is holding you back or causing distress. I offer personalised sessions tailored to your unique needs, using an integrative approach to look at what factors may be contributing to unhappiness or discomfort, while also looking to past history to inform the present. I am originally from the US, where I trained and practiced for many years. Having had the privilege to work with diverse populations, I utilise a culturally sensitive, inclusive approach in my work, and I consider it an honour to work with all people, regardless of age, culture, race, religion, ethnicity, ability, neurodivergence, gender or sexual orientation. By offering a caring, supportive environment, my hope is to help you realise your potential for well-being and happiness. My practice is fully remote, which allows me to work with clients anywhere in the UK.
I pay particular attention not only to what happens in the "thinking brain," but also to how emotions and past experiences are stored and held in the body. A significant focus is on helping others develop self-compassion, and to begin to view everything they do through that lens. By integrating talk therapy, EMDR and mind-body approaches, I work collaboratively with clients to achieve well-being and self-acceptance. Above all, I endeavour to create a safe space to experience helpful ways of coping and relating.
Areas of focus include, among others: trauma, attachment, depression, anxiety, family of origin and developmental challenges, identity and self-worth. I work with clients aged 18 and over for weekly or fortnightly sessions.
EMDR is a robust, highly effective therapeutic approach, which utilises eye movements (or another form of bilateral stimulation such as auditory tones) to create lasting healing and change. EMDR works to heal trauma and difficult experiences from the past and present, but it has also proven effective for depression, anxiety, attachment styles, phobias and many other presentations. EMDR is fully applicable to an online platform and in fact, many appreciate the benefits of accessing this type of healing work in the comfort and safety of their own space. While EMDR blends seamlessly with other therapeutic approaches, clients are not obligated to utilise this protocol and can opt for talk therapy. For more information, please visit these links:
